Westpark Skatepark will be closed for construction starting

Expansion of the skatepark is planned to be complete by Spring 2025.

We're thrilled to announce that the City of Ventura is entering the construction phase of the highly anticipated Westpark Skatepark Expansion Project, with work set to begin later this month. Please note the skatepark will close on Monday, September 23, 2024, so make sure to get in your last skate soon!

This transformative project will renovate the existing 3,200 sq. ft. skatepark and expand it into a 22,000 sq. ft. facility. The new design will include upgraded features, improved accessibility, fresh landscaping, enhanced lighting, and public art that reflects the local community.

This project is a testament to the incredible community collaboration that has guided it since 2019. Through 11 public meetings, the input of local skateboarders, the W.E.S.T. group, community members, the City Council, and the Parks & Recreation Commission has been instrumental in shaping the design. Your involvement and feedback have brought this project to life, and we couldn't have done it without you!

The Westpark Skatepark is expected to be completed by Spring 2025.

Parks and Recreation Commission Presentation

The public is invited to attend the City of Ventura Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 31 at 4:00 PM. The meeting will be held at City Hall, in the Community Meeting Room on the Second Floor. At this formal hearing, the last planning public meeting for the project, Grindline will present the final concept design to the commission and the public is welcome to provide public comment.

The public is invited to attend the second design workshop for the Westpark Skatepark Expansion Project on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The City’s design-build contractor, Grindline Skateparks, will present an updated project design based on community feedback from last month’s workshop. Review design elements and share ideas with staff. Spanish interpretation services and translated materials will be available.
